Kalifa Davy Makes Decision

Q. What schools were recruiting you?

A. I was recruited by Hofstra University, Colgate University, St. Francis University PA, Adelphi University, Carnegie Mellon, Loyola University, Assumption College, Stony Brook University, Mount St. Mary's University and Monmouth University.

Q. What schools offered you a scholarship?

A. I was offered by St. Francis of PA. and Mount St. Mary's.

Q. Did you visit the school?

Yes. I made a minimum of 2 unofficial school visits to the colleges/universities that were interested in me and I was interested in.  I wanted to see how the campus was situated, meet the coach, the assistant coaches and team members, and visualize myself living and playing there for the next 4 years.

Q. What did you like about the school?

A. I wanted a D1 school located in the south that was in a rural setting.  This would allow me to be close to nature (which I love). That is very important to me. I also wanted a school that would challenge me academically with an Honors program. Finally I wanted a small school that was nice and welcoming - Mount St. Mary’s “fit the bill.”

Q. Why did you decide to end the recruiting process?

A.  I
ended the recruiting process when my needs were met.  “The Mount” met my expectations for a college. I felt at home there and I see myself achieving my dream of being a high performing College level student athlete.  My plan is to leave this great university and attend medical school.

I have a great deal of respect for Coach Whitten and his team of coaches and I look forward to working/winning with them in 2014 -2018.

Q. Any last comments you would like to add?

I thank God for making all of this possible.  By playing on a competitive and distinguished high school basketball team, I was able to fuel my passion of playing basketball, improve my skill level so that I could be recognized by formidable colleges for a scholarship opportunity.

I also want to thank my St. Anthony’s Family, Long Island Lightning Family, and especially my Riverside Hawks Family and my trainers along the way; without the assistance of this tremendous village, none of this would be possible.

Finally, I would like to thank my family for all the sacrifices they made to turn my dream into a reality and make this possible.  A special “thank you” to my Aunt Rosa & Uncle Tony.
